Nothing like a day in the park, in the middle of winter to get you wishing you were back in Maui.  Although my vacation may have ended weeks ago, I am still reminiscing in any way I can.  Cheers to a weekend full of warm memories and getting some work in!

Maui photo diary

I am fortunate enough to have been able to travel to Maui earlier this month for vacation.  A place I've always wanted to see.  We visited Lahaina, Paia, the Waimoku falls, the Seven Sacred Pools, Wailea, and a multitude of beaches the island has to offer.  The culture to the Hawaiian islands, the beaches, the sunshine and palm trees, the great local experiences, sprinkled in with some tourist activities, made for an amazing vacation.  Here are some of my recommendations on how to experience the island.

  • A day trip to Lahaina is a must, they have some of the best little shops and boutiques that are really unique to the area.  While there we had lunch at Kimo's a great seafood restaurant on the water, a place I highly recommend going to.
  • For a semi-short hike, I suggest going to Waimoku falls.  The hike is about 1.5 miles to the falls, and along the way you experience a multitude of different atmospheres, from bamboo forests, to unique banyan trees, and all the amazing scenery along the way.
  • At the end of the hike back there is a trail that will lead you to the Seven Sacred Pools, where you can swim in fresh, clear, runoff water from the falls in the area.  There are different sized pools and you can even jump off of the top of the rock wall into the pools if you feel so inclined.
  • There is a great bistro that serves the best breakfast and brunch right across from the beach in Kihei called 808, they even have live local music to enhance your experience.
  • Drinks at sunset at Fred's Mexican Cafe are a must, they make the best margaritas!
  • One of the most beautiful areas on the island is Wailea.  The hotels are so luxurious and intriguing, an area I would highly recommend staying in!
  • One of my favorite little towns was Paia, they have the best variety of little cafes and boutiques all in one area, and offer the finest in vacation attire.
I cannot wait to go back next year and explore more of the island! Aloha
