White is a staple

I hope everyone had a great Holliday weekend!  I know for me it was nice to have a relaxing weekend off to just enjoy great company and be outdoors!  Something that is extremely rare in my normal work mode, especially since September is not only the start of fashion month but it is also the beginning of the fashion industries chaotic next six month run... I have always found that the fall and winter are the best known for the glamorous events and parties, whereas the summertime is more for traveling and the laid back events.  No matter what time of the year there always seems to be some "rules" that people insist on following... Let me explain my POV on one of the big ones.

There has always been this connotation that white is "unacceptable" after Labor Day.  Well I am here to tell you that it's not!  White and subsequently cream are two of my favorite basic color go-to's all year round!  They simply neutralize any colors and are a great base or layering color for any outfit.  We also live in a time where people are not as obliged to follow the "rules" like they used to be.  I think it's amazing people are embracing their own sense of style and not necessarily following these "rules" that don't seem to pertain as much to our culture anymore.  Now that we've covered the base on how breaking the rules is ok, let's move onto some exciting news happening here at fashionROUSE!

We are going to be teaming up with a jewelry company called Shop by Polar to do an advertising campaign with them!  I cannot wait for you all to see their pieces, they are absolutely gorgeous, and I am thrilled to work with such an amazing company!  Stay tuned for more info as I will be doing a cool behind the scenes post on what really goes on backstage at a photoshoot!  Hope everyone has a great week!

Salmon

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you all had an amazing weekend and are enjoying this beautiful Monday!  I can't believe how fast time is flying by right now!  It seems like just the other day summer was only starting and now its nearly come to an end!  Not to mention it really starts to hit you when all of the stores are already bring in the fall clothes and preparing for Christmas!  (A little to early if you ask me)

The other weekend my family came into town to visit me and enjoy a weekend of living life on the west side of the state.  So naturally I took them to enjoy some of the local festivities that occur here.  Every other year there is a Salmon bake held at Brown's Point park, they cook salmon on an open smoker, have a great meal, live music, and fun games for the kids.  The whole event was started to not only showcase the salmon the was caught but to also bring the community closer together.  I was so excited that I was able to share the awesome experience with my family.

For my outfit I chose to wear this salmon colored lace dress.  Kind of an interesting choice since I was going to a salmon bake.  But none the less I thought it was a perfect fit for the occasion.  I easily get cold so I liked the idea of bringing along the ombre chambray button-up just in case I got cold.  Of course any outfit wouldn't be complete without a statement necklace and my sunnies!  Normally I would wear wedges with this outfit to an event at the park, but seeing as how it was right on the pebbly beach I felt that a sandal was a more appropriate option.  Overall this look embodied the casual yet color vibe that I have enjoyed rocking all summer long!

What do you guys think of this combo?  How do you rock your colorful dresses?  Use #frcolors on Instagram to show us!

Boardwalk

I just noticed it has been over a month and a half since I last posted any outfits on here!  Although I have been wanting to show you guys all of the cute outfits I've been wearing up here in Seattle, it has been very challenging to fit it into my schedule along with relocating to a new part of the state.  Which has subsequently been consuming a majority of my time!  I now feel like I am starting to get settled however, which means that I am back to being able to share all of my favorite outfits with you guys!

One of the benefits of living on the west side of the state now is that I am able to be close to the water, enjoy the fresh air, and be surrounded by a culture where everyone is so unique.  There are also so many creative and artistic people to work with!  I am so excited to start sharing with you guys some of the projects I have been working on!  To start off, the photographer that I worked with for this photo shoot brought about a new artistic view that we have not yet done here at Fashion ROUSE.  The idea of changing the backgrounds balance along with the outfits is something that is honestly completely foreign to me.  However, it is a specialty of his, and I think the pictures turned out great!

I loved the way that the blues paired up nicely next to the beach.  I feel as though it is a typical choice, but one that works oh so well!  I love this look mainly because it could be casual or dressy, depending on where your at.  With a change into flip flops you could easily take this look to being more casual.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far!  I can't wait to share more with your from my adventures this last week!
